Designing the Pléonix Identity: A Symbol Between Ocean Depths and Inner Transformation

Creating a brand identity is not just about aesthetics — it’s about translating a philosophy into a visual language.
For Pléonix, the challenge was to design a logo that embodies both physical exploration and inner transformation.

Pléonix is more than a travel company. It offers immersive experiences that combine diving, breathwork, and meditation — guiding individuals through journeys between the ocean and the self.

Understanding the Essence of Pléonix

Before starting the design process, it was essential to define what Pléonix stands for.

🐚 Immersive journeys between sky & sea
🌬️ Breathwork + Diving + Meditation = Transformation
🌊 A space to escape, reconnect, and rediscover yourself

This positioning guided every design decision. The visual identity needed to feel:

  • Fluid and organic, like water
  • Grounded yet mystical, reflecting meditation
  • Powerful and transformative, like a personal rebirth

A Name Rooted in Symbolism

The name Pléonix itself became the foundation of the visual concept.

  • PL → referring to plongée (diving)
  • Léo → inspired by the leopard, symbol of agility and instinct
  • Nix → echoing the phoenix, symbol of rebirth and transformation

The logo needed to merge these three dimensions into a single, cohesive symbol.

From Concept to Form: Hybrid Symbolism

The final logo combines two powerful archetypes:

  • A leopard head, representing awareness, precision, and presence
  • An octopus body, symbolizing adaptability, fluidity, and connection

This hybrid creature creates a unique visual language — both terrestrial and marine, conscious and instinctive.

The octopus tentacles evoke:

  • Movement and flow
  • Breath and expansion
  • The unseen currents beneath the surface

Together, these elements reflect the Pléonix experience: diving deep, both physically and mentally.

Designing for Impact and Recognition

The logo was designed to be:

  • Bold and instantly recognizable
  • Versatile across digital and print formats
  • Readable at small and large scales

The strong black silhouette ensures high contrast and adaptability, whether used on:

  • Websites
  • Social media
  • Apparel
  • Retreat materials

The symmetry reinforces a sense of balance — echoing the harmony between body and mind.

A Logo Designed as an Experience

Rather than being purely decorative, the Pléonix logo acts as a symbol of transformation.

It reflects:

  • The descent into the ocean
  • The expansion of breath
  • The stillness of meditation
  • The emergence into a renewed self

Key Takeaways

This project highlights essential principles of effective brand design:

  • Strong concepts create meaningful visuals
  • Symbolism enhances emotional connection
  • Simplicity improves memorability
  • Versatility ensures longevity

Conclusion

Designing the Pléonix logo was about capturing a dual journey — external exploration and internal transformation.

By merging animal symbolism, fluid forms, and a powerful color narrative, the identity reflects the essence of the brand:
a space where adventure meets awareness.

If you’re building a brand that blends experience, emotion, and storytelling, I’d love to collaborate.
